Lately I’ve been reading and researching some information and history about my heritage - I’m a mizrahi Jew, mostly of yeminate origion. My family has lived in the middle east since ever. We live in Israel since 1949, after the Arabs in Yemen practicaly kicked all the Jews on a plain, gave it a push and waved goodbye from the ground with all of the Jewish property. And yet when i search the tag on tumblr, what i mostly find is westerns and / or Arabs either posting denial of said events, making excuses to why those people were not refugees, or using us and our complicated situation against us and against our country Israel, by claiming of racism against us, of cynical use of our history against Palestinians, by calling us “Arab Jews” (no thanks, I’m a Jewish Jew) etc.
Let’s get one thing clear - unless you are a mizrahi Jew, or at least Israeli yourself, you have no right to tell me whether or not I’m being oppressed or discriminated against in my own country. You have no right to judge if the use of my history is cynical or justified, this is OUR call, not yours.
Secondly, if you choose to ignore our history, not to compare it to Palestinian history, or claim any difference between those 2 groups of refugees, you ARE hypocrites.
Seriously, the main vibe i got from this tags on tumblr is of patronizing, white-western arrogance. And annoying denial. Please just stop being assholes.

So I’ve been getting some really mixed signals from a girl… I’m trying not to think to much about it ‘cause I’m pretty sure it’ll end in disappointment like always, but idk… Sometimes she seems totally into me, but then it’s usually when she’s drunk (both of us, actually), and maybe that’s just how she acts with everybody(..?) but I really don’t know. Maybe she really does like me and I just have low self esteem (dah) so I don’t believe it. Or it’s probably just all in my head so I should really stop thinking about her ~~yeah right like I can do that.~~

So I organized my library today and passed so many books on to my sister. I really had a great journey in line of memory today… Books were my whole childhood, I’ve always been such a huge book warm! :) taking out all those books I loved as a little girl and thinking about all the hours I spent reading them… Such a nostalgic afternoon.

Sadly, my 9 years old sister is nothing like me, lol she was born with a laptop in one hand and an iphone in the other. She doesn’t really read and it’s so disappointing to think no one’s gonna read those books anymore, that she wouldn’t have all of these great experiences like I have. My dad is trying to make her read and my mom still thinks she’ll do it eventually, and maybe she will… who knows. I hope my old books will get a new reader sometimes, whoever this is.
